What is Pilates and its Benefits

Those who are reading me already know that I am a great defender of the Pilates method and apply its principles in all types of training. The benefits that it gives us are many, and it is a safe and effective method of work in the hands of professionals.

Although Pilates exercises is currently a well-known practice for the general public, I still find people who, due to lack of information, do not know what this discipline is about or who continue to associate it erroneously with collective classes of women of a certain age. Today I bring you this video so we can banish those badly constructed stereotypes.

Do you want to know what is Pilates?

Pilates, far from being just stretching for the female audience, is a discipline of strength: the core or central area of our body is to a greater or lesser extent in constant activation. From our center or Powerhouse is where all the strength goes to perform the body movements.

The work with the Pilates method also demands an excellent body control, a lot of precision and postural correction: starting from a good alignment, knowing how to activate the necessary muscles in each case and doing it in a precise and correct way requires a high awareness of our body.

The concentration, being the mind that guides all the movement, and the control of the breathing, that helps us to carry it out or sometimes makes it more difficult, are vital for correct execution.

Pilates is, finally, a science of movement: as you can see in the video. Both athletes are in constant movement, linking some exercises fluidly with others.

And so, one by one, we have been going through all the basic principles of the Pilates method, which should be based on any training session of this discipline. All of them are present in the video that accompanies the post, and the result is insight.

Whether on the ground, with implements. With machines or in suspension, the Pilates method is an excellent option to introduce in your workouts.
