When it comes to health benefits and taste, acai is undoubtedly among the popular berries out there. You can find a lot of them in the Amazon rainforests and have a long time reputation for improving the immune system, energy levels, and more. One great way to enjoy the benefits of these berries is through acai berry powder. What’s more, it requires no refrigeration and is easy to store.

How to Consume Acai Berry?

Fresh acai berries typically have a shorter shelf life, so people export them and make them available in juices, purees, and powders. While the juice is rich in antioxidants, but it lacks fiber and has high sugar content. You can make a bowl of frozen acai puree by blending it with milk or water, creating a smoothie for toppings. As for the powder, it produces the most concentrated nutritional value, including fat, fiber, and plant compounds.

What Are the Benefits of Acai Berry?

Increase brain function

The acai plant has compound elements that could protect the brain. Several studies have shown that the antioxidants found in acai can counteract the adverse effect of oxidation and inflammation in the brain cells.

One way to keep the brain healthy is to clean up the toxic and useless cells, which is a process called autophagy. As the body ages, this process becomes less efficient. But, consuming acai can help stimulate this cleaning response in the cells. Another study has revealed that acai can help boost memory due to aging.

Boost cholesterol levels

By consuming acai berry powder regularly, it helps reduce the LDL cholesterol in the body. The anthocyanin components in acai are responsible for improving the cholesterol levels. Also, acai berry has plant sterols that stop your body from absorbing cholesterol.

Acai berry is rich in antioxidants

Antioxidants work by neutralizing the negative effects of free radicals in the body. In case the antioxidants do not neutralize the free radicals, this will weaken the cells and may cause heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and a number of illnesses. Fortunately, acai berries are rich in antioxidant compounds that increase the levels of antioxidants in the body once absorbed in the gut.

Acai is packed with nutrients

The acai fruit comes with a unique nutritional composition that is low in sugar and high in fat. This berry has a nutritional value according to the Recommended Dietary Intake (RDI):

  • Fiber, 2 grams
  • Carbs, 4 grams
  • Fat, 5 grams
  • Sugar, 2 grams

Blueberries, black beans, and other black, purple, and blue foods also contain anthocyanins in them.
